  • Amarnath Shakti Peeth is among one of the 51 Shakti Peeth of Maa Sati. According to the legend when lord Vishnu used his “Sudarshan Chakra” to incise Maa Sati body in order to relieve lord Shiva from the grief of losing his wife sati, throat of Maa Sati fell at this place. Amarnath cave temple build at this place and it is considered to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism.

    The idol of Maa sati is workshipped here as “Mahamaya” and lord Shiva as “Trisandhyeshwar”.

    Inside the 40m (130 ft) high amaranth cave, the “Shivalinga” is formed due to freezing of water drop that fall from the roof of the cave on the floor and grows up vertically from the cave floor.
